A home you can understand.
The starting point
A home can report plenty of numbers while still being hard to understand. The useful question is what needs attention, how fresh the information is, and where it came from.
What I built
HEARTH explores what a home interface should pay attention to. Devices can produce endless readings and controls; the useful question is what needs attention, how recent that information is and what action makes sense.
HEARTH connects devices with desktop and mobile apps. A spatial map brings the system together, while smaller interfaces show everyday updates. Readings include their source and last update so old information is easy to spot.
The work crosses software and physical making, from local services and interfaces to displays, growing systems and workshop devices. The aim is a legible system that remains understandable as it grows.
